چکیده

CASE REPORTS Case 1-A boy aged six months was seen in 1969 because of a swelling on the back of the distal part of the right middle finger. He was the fourth child of healthy parents. The tumour had appeared in the third month of life ; it was about 5 millimetres in diameter, firm, not tender, and fixed to the skin but not to the underlying tissues. Biopsy showed a dermatofibroma with no sign of malignancy. The tumour then started to grow more rapidly, and it was decided to excise it completely and apply a skin graft. Three months later a recurrence was excised. After three more months a second recurrence had occurred and the parents refused further operations. Now after four years this has disappeared and only a small local thickening is evident on the lateral aspect of the finger where the graft meets normal skin.

Recurring digital fibroma.

Seven cases of recurring digital fibroma were seen over a 35-year period. All demonstrated the classical clinical, macroscopic, and microscopic features of this distinct tumour, including the pathognomonic round, eosinophilic cytoplasmic inclusion bodies. Ultrastructurally, all seven cases were confirmed to be myofibroblastic in nature, and the morphology and intracellular topography of the inc...

Conservative management of a left ventricle cardiac fibroma in an asymptomatic child patient.

Primary cardiac tumors in infancy and childhood are rare and usually benign. Fibroma is the second most common bening cardiac tumor after rhabdomyoma. Surgery is required when fibromas cause ventricular outflow tract obstruction, ventricular dysfunction and life-threatening arrhythmia. This case report describes a 9-year-old asymptomatic male presenting with a giant left ventricular cardiac fib...

Pediatric Fibroblastic and Myofibroblastic Tumors

Spectrum of Fibroblastic and Myofibroblastic Tumors When one considers soft tissue tumors in pediatrics, tumors of vascular (29%), neurogenic (15%), and myogenic (striated muscle, 14%) origin occur more often than fibroblastic-myofibroblastic tumors (12%). The spectrum of fibroblastic/myofibroblastic tumors is quite divergent from both clinical and histopathologic viewpoints (Table 1). These tu...

Primary intramural fibroma of the left ventricle with a late apparent symptomatology.

We report a case of a 13-year-old girl who was admitted to the emergency department with syncope. She had been diagnosed in infancy with a large intramural fibroma of the left ventricle, but had been free of any clinical symptoms during the last decade. The patient underwent a thorough and detailed clinical and imaging study. We discuss the contribution of new non-invasive imaging modalities to...
